Community Education Preschool | Child Care | Great Start Readiness Program | Bright Beginnings | Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
The Early Childhood Center (ECC) programming focuses on safety, care, development, and kindergarten readiness. The ECC houses several programs including Community Education Preschool, Great Start Readiness Preschool, and a Child Care Center for both before- and after-school childcare for children from kindergarten to fifth grade and all-day child care with educational enrichment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Community Education Preschool gives 3- and 4-year-old children the opportunity to explore, create and interact with children their own age while learning to feel comfortable at school. This tuition-based program offers a curriculum designed to prepare students for kindergarten and is not limited to district residents.
Child Care provides both a before- and after-school daycare program for children from kindergarten to fifth grade and all-day childcare with educational enrichment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Hours of operation are 6:30 am to 6:00 pm year-round, offering care throughout school breaks, snow days, and vacations. Enrollment is not limited to residents of Kenowa Hills.
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a state-funded preschool program for qualifying four-year-old children. The program requires children to be age four by September 1. Kent Intermediate School District oversees GSRP classrooms in 18 school districts and several community-based organizations around Kent County. GSRP classrooms are located in Kenowa Hills Early Childhood Center. For more information on GSRP, including enrollment information, please call (616) 447-2409 or click here.
Bright Beginnings is a no-cost family outreach and support program that uses the Parent as Teachers curriculum model. Parents as Teachers believe that children are born to learn and that parents are their children's first and most important teachers! Monthly playdates are held for parents and their children.
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) If found eligible through an evaluation process, students aged 3-5 with individualized education programs (IEPs) may be supported through a range of services or ECSE program options. All Kenowa Hills Public Schools ECSE services are provided at the Kenowa Hills Early Childhood Center.
