    General 2022-23 Registration Information

Parents, please make sure you have completed the online enrollment before coming to registration. This is vital to our communication this school year. Visit PowerSchool or https://www.khps.org/ > Parent Resources > PowerSchool from the Parent Portal:

    1. Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account
    2. Select the student you wish to register along the top
    3. Select the Student Registration Icon on the left side for ACADEMIC YEAR

    Food Service
The 2022-23 School Year Free and Reduced Meal Benefits application is now available! Families must submit a new application each year (after July 1st) in order to qualify for benefits for the entire 2022-23 school year. The federal waivers that allowed for free school meals for all students have ended so those families who do not submit applications or do not qualify for meal benefits will need to purchase breakfast and lunch for their students. Apply NOW so that your student(s) does not incur unpaid meal charges when school begins again in August. The online application can be found here, Free & Reduced Meals Application, and paper applications will be available.

    Transportation
Bussing will be available again this year, although routes will not be available until the 18th of August. Please do not contact the Bus Garage with questions about routes until after the final routes have been posted. You may go to khps.org > Resources> Bus Routes and scroll towards the bottom for updated routes for the 22/23 School Year.

      Lockers
We will be using lockers again this year! All students will be assigned a locker with a lock. Locker numbers will be printed on your schedule. Maps will be available showing where lockers are located. Locks should remain on the lockers at all times.

      Parking
Parking Registration forms and stickers will be available to purchase and pick up at registration for those students that drive to school. Each car must be registered. The cost will be $20, even if you drive multiple vehicles.

      Chromebooks
All incoming 9th graders, new students, and any student that turned in their Chromebook in the spring may pick it up during registration in the Media Center. The Tech Department will be available to pick up Chromebooks and pay for Chromebook insurance. Chromebook Insurance has changed this year; the price has increased to $30 per student. The preferable payment method is through Efunds but cash, checks, and cards are also accepted.

      Schedules
Schedules will be available to pick up. New students and incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to walk through the school and find classrooms.

      IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding Schedule Changes
To ensure a smooth registration process, we would like to provide you with information about schedule changes. Much time and consideration have been given to creating a master schedule that meets the academic needs of the entire student body. We prioritize students’ opportunities to meet graduation requirements, course requests made and confirmed in the spring, and balanced class sizes. Because changes affect the balance of the schedule and teacher assignments, teacher changes and lunch changes cannot be accommodated. Year-long classes cannot be dropped at the semester.

Please meet with your counselor during your assigned registration time to adjust your schedule if:

      1. You are enrolled in fewer than 6 courses each semester.
      2. You are enrolled in two courses at the same hour of the day.
      3. You are enrolled in the same course more than once.
      4. You are enrolled in a course that you have already successfully completed.
      5. You are enrolled in a course that requires a prerequisite you have not yet taken.
      6. You are a senior who is missing a graduation requirement.

If you have a complete schedule that includes six courses, though not necessarily the teachers or hours you would prefer, we consider this to be your FINAL schedule for the duration of the school year.

      Internships

2023 KHHS seniors who are scheduled to be involved with the KHHS Work Based INTERNSHIP program will need to pick up their semester paperwork during registration from Mr. Bretz - on either August 9, 10, or 11, 2022. This fully completed packet must be completely filled out by the student, employer, and parent/guardian. The deadline to turn in the completed packet will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022, by 2:45 PM. If this packet is NOT completed and turned in by the first day of school, you will be dropped from the KHHS Work Based INTERNSHIP program.

      9th Grade Parent Meeting

9th-grade parents and students, you are all invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday (08/09) or Wednesday (08/10) from 2 pm – 3 pm to learn more about all the good things happening for the 9th-grade students. Each meeting will be in the Auditorium (PAC) at 2 pm.

We have new counselors joining us this school year and want to ensure you are able to direct your questions to the correct individuals. All counselor assignments are done by last name.

Ashley Anderson: last names A-FRA (aanderson@khps.org)
Kayle Ogrodzinski: last names FRE-LA and Pathways students (kogrodzinski@khps.org)
Jon Mikelsons: last names LE-SL (jmikelsons@khps.org)
Anne Harig sharing with Matt Elliott: last names SM-Z along with Middle College and Launch U students (aharig@khps.org)

      Geskus Photography
Geskus Photography will be here to take pictures and print ID's for students. Seniors, you still need to get pictures taken for your student ID but you will be able to submit a senior photo for the yearbook at a later date. Picture purchase forms will be mailed to your home but they will also be available at registration.

      6 Period Day
Lastly, we will be returning to a 6 period day this school year. Paper copies of the schedule will be available at registration and will be sent to students prior to school.

Our Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
